Unai Emery is under pressure at the Emirates Stadium and right now former Arsenal defender, Nigel Winterburn has backed Patrick Vieira to take over from Emery if he is sacked.
The Arsenal man has suggested that the Nice boss would be a perfect fit for the Gunners should the board opt for a change in the dugout.
Emery has come under scrutiny in recent weeks after some poor results which have left Gunners fifth in the Premier League table, four points adrift of the top four.
After a big summer of spending on David Luiz, Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney and co, patience is running out with Gooners.
There are reports suggesting that Emery has the full backing of the Arsenal hierarchy though, but as far as the German is concerned, there is growing pressure on his future at the club.
Should the club decide to wield the axe, Winterburn believes they should look in the direction of no other than Vieira.
“I don't know if they would be as brave to go with someone like [Freddie] Ljungberg or [Mikel] Arteta,” Winterburn told Gambling.com.
“They may be terrific coaches but when you take that manager's role it steps up another couple of levels again.
“I would say keep an eye on what's happening with Patrick Viera.
“If someone like that could prove they are able to run a club in the right way, then Arsenal may look towards that eventually.”
